Roket Productions

Welcome to Roket Productions. You can use the navigation buttons at the top of the page to visit our various projects and sites. We have several projects going at the moment, two major projects consisting of Roket3D, our 3D game engine with multi-platform support and RoketBB, our bulletin board software. We also have a completed game, The Thing 2.

Good News Everybody! - Monday 9th of June, 2008

Cameron Hutchison has decided to fill the position of Roket3D IDE Developer. He'll be heading all of the IDE's developments while I maintain working on the engine. Be prepared for accelerated development... :D

Roket3D Alpha 0.3 Released (Well sort of) - Saturday 7th of June, 2008

I know I'm months behind release schedule, so I've decided to release a partial Roket3D Alpha 0.3. It doesn't have all the GUI elements, and the third-person (lazy) camera still doesn't work, but at least you can see the new API and new things that have been added (there are no examples for them though).

Alpha 0.4 will of course, be requiring a GUI interface. I'm looking for a C++ developer with previous experience with GTK+. Payment for the required work will be that you receive a third of the each Roket3D sale (with a third going to me, and the other third going towards business costs and profit). If your interested in the job, or want more information, contact me at jrhodes@roket-productions.com.

Game Making Resources is still not up; I'm still waiting on my hosting provider for SSH access.

Game Making Resources Domain Activated - Monday 26th of May, 2008

I've finally managed to get the Game Making Resources domain pointing back to this server. I should be uploading the new files tonight.

Valhalla: Deliverance Source Code Released - Thursday 8th of May, 2008

Since we're so nice, and the fact that we've got the game into the YYG competition, the source code is now available at http://www.roket-productions.com/?page=valhalla.

Hosting Problems - Monday 5th of May, 2008

You might have noticed we'd had a few hosting problems over the last week. Our hoster didn't like the amount of bandwidth we were using (although figures are sceptical), so I've had to transfer the site over to another server.

However, the backup was damaged, so it needed to be repaired. This means that some files or settings may not have been uploaded correctly. If you find any files or something doesn't look right, send me an email at jrhodes@roket-productions.com (though I still am uploading stuff, so don't worry if things don't look right until Wednesday).

New Design - Saturday 29th of March, 2008

Well, as you may have noticed, Roket Productions has got a facelift. We hope you all enjoy the new design.

We'll also be theming the forums to match the main site.

GMC Bot Active - Thursday 27th of March, 2008

Well I've managed to rescript the GMC Bot to collect AND filter the resources now, so Game Making Resources now has over 2000 resources. Some resources have been incorrectly picked up, so the moderators over there are sorting through them as fast as possible.

We're back! - Sunday 23rd of March, 2008

After a bit of downtime, Roket Productions is back online.

Other than that, I've been planning to release 0.3 Alpha of Roket3D for sometime now, I just was hoping to release a Mac version as well. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like 0.3 will be the release with Mac support, so you should see a release within two weeks.

We've also acquired Parasol Boards (now to be renamed RoketBB). It's a fully modular bulletin board. You can preview the development site at http://www.gm-resources.com/roketbb/ (please don't go messing around with it though, look but don't touch). It's yet to be decided whether this will be free, commercial or both (e.g. pay for support).

It also looks like I'm not going to get any responses for the logo, so I don't know what I'm going to do about that. Maybe our graphics artist might be able to take some time from working on our games to create the logo...

And that sums up what's been happening at Roket Productions for the last month or two.

Roket3D Alpha 0.2 has been released! - Friday 18th of January, 2008

Binaries are now available for both Windows and Linux for Roket3D Alpha 0.2. This new version includes model and texture supports as well as multi-threading functions and collision detection.

As always, have fun ;).

Roket3D Alpha 0.1 Released! - Tuesday 8th of January, 2008

The Alpha 0.1 version of Roket3D has been released. You can find the binaries for Linux and Windows available on our download page. At the moment there is no IDE available, so if you want to change something, edit the examples/main.lua file in Notepad or Linux equivilant.

Have fun ;)
